Eagilik Public Fund was founded in 2004 by Martha Peake to enrich the community of Astana through literature, cultural exchange and English language learning. Eagilik, which means good works in Kazakh, started in a simple two-room flat with just a small library of donated books from America. Within the next few years, as students and books multiplied, the Fund would move to larger locations. In 2009 the Fund opened its current location on Kenesary Street.
